Project Details

Directorate General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa organized the first ever Peshawar Marathon on 6th September 2024 in connection with celebration of Pakistan National Defence Day. The Peshawar marathon covered a distance of 25 kilometres, utilising the BRT route from Chamkani Stop to Hayatabad Sports Complex. This landmark event saw participation from over 3,000 athletes from across the nation.

The marathon was officially inaugurated by Honourable Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, along with provincial ministers and actively took part in the race. During the closing ceremony held at Hayatabad Sports Complex, the Provincial Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Mr. Syed Fakhar Jehan, awarded the cash prizes and trophies to the distinguished winners. This event not only showcased the region’s athletic talent but also underscored the commitment to promoting sports and fostering community engagement.
