In the 2022-23 fiscal year, the Directorate General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa initiated the project “Promotion and Sustainability of Sports in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” designed to enhance and support sports across various sectors. This comprehensive project involved organizing multiple sporting events, including the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Intervarsity Games, Inter-Collegiate Games, Inter-Madaris Games, Inter-Constituency Games, and Special Persons Games.
The initiative attracted widespread participation, with 2,500 players from 32 public universities competing in the Intervarsity Games. The Inter-Collegiate Games featured 1,450 players from 290 public colleges. The Inter-Constituency Games included a significant 8,000 players across 115 constituencies and 36 districts. Additionally, the Inter-Madaris Games saw 400 participants, and the Special Persons Games engaged 400 athletes.
The sporting events covered a wide range of disciplines, including football, volleyball, badminton, cricket, hockey, table tennis, judo, and karate, among others. This project played a pivotal role in promoting and sustaining sports within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, demonstrating a robust commitment to fostering athletic talent and engagement throughout the region.
